Polyvore is an amazing Interactive website that could change e commerce advertising.

Polyvore is an amazing website I just found. This is my take on this great site.

Polyvore.com is a fashion oriented interactive design content website that has the potential to create a Teutonic shift in e commerce. Polyvore is entertainment. The website allows users to create an artistic collage masterpieces using images derived strictly from thumbnail images of commercial photos of fashionable products for sale on the web. These whimsical finished collages are like those seen in fashion, women and home design magazines. The beautiful user generated collages are created by browsing through hundreds of thumbnail images grouped by category as design elements.

The website engages the user like gaming but the content they are viewing is all for sale. When something taps into so many characteristics in a large target audience the impact can be a game changer. The target audience is women, girls, and all design oriented people. Polyvore mimics the pleasure the gaming industry taped into with interactive gaming. The pleasure derived from creating art, shopping, designing, sharing the latest trends and scrap-booking all combine in this website. The target audience for this website is huge and corresponds exponentially to ad generated revenue.

Polyvore is an interactive design program that the artist tools are product ad copy.

Most fashion, home design and women’s magazines devote major space to combining diverse fashion trend images on one page creating intriguing collages. The Polyvore site allows the user to create delightful collage art like this. There are few teenage girls that do not have cut out design bulletin board in their room. Women when designing home décor, wedding or parties create vast folders of design ideas torn from design magazines. This site turns the same pleasure of collecting design ideas into an artist image collage.

As an example a teenage girl might use the background of a Burberry scarf with some hot Prada shoes layer on top with then add the image of a cool guy soccer player in a logo team shirt, topped with image of lady gaga and then add text. Each of these diverse product images if clicked on in the collage link back to the website where the product can be purchased.
Why is this great economic model?

• Taps into the same desires as interactive gaming as entertainment
• Has large target market of design oriented buying customers
• Ad revenue is derived by users searching through thousands of images products for sale that they might never see.
• Ad content revenue is huge.
• The Polyvore website has tremendous viral spread each time a completed collage masterpiece is posted to social media it is watermarked so the Polyvore name is spread as well as the image of the products used as design elements of the collage.
• When anyone hovers their mouse over one of the products images the website where the article can be purchase appears.
• The business model is amazing as participants are actually designing with ad copy.

The above description is my quick take on the great website. June 17 2010
